Alcatraz is a well-know jail in San Francisco. Alcatraz jail is on a lone island which is visible from the Golden Gate bridge. The cold winds flowing across the Pacific ocean has its strong hold on the insights of the city. It had the most rated criminals in the American history.

You need to book the tickets at least 2 months prior to visit the place. The booking slots is mostly full. Its really a task for the traveller to book the cruise for the place which you might compare to booking tickets on the irctc.com for Indian railways. Jokes apart! Things are really curious visiting the place where three prisoners were able to escape using their wit.
To have the best of the experience while visiting the place and gather the knowledge/ ideas to escape from the prison you can have a glimpse of the movie 'Clint Eastwood - Escape from Alcatraz'. Its a short movie though but interesting to find how the gang of three prisoners were able to run away from the prison.

Its always best to visit places like these with your group of friends who have a similar interest to watch though or you may have some variant in friends who might not make you enjoy the trip.. so plan well!
The cruise journey is quite exciting and below link takes you to the location where you journey starts from.
Address: San Francisco Pier 33 - Alcatraz Island, San Francisco, CA 94111
The first site you have when you drive through the cruise is you see the huge San Francisco leaving behind the journey trail to Alcatraz island. The best you can take for the shoreline of the bay area. The cold winds driving by and the tender cold from the ocean makes you journey quite smooth. Do not miss a click of the Bay area of the San Fransisco while departing... it will embark to you memory footprints.
Just approaching the jail you see the words craved at the entrance of the Jail 'WELCOME INDIANS!'
I bet you might have thought how Indian prisoners made it to the Alcatraz jail, but jokes apart Indians here refer to the Red Indians who used to reside in America before the foundation of the America. It was surprising to me too when I read this in between the cold winds of the Pacific ocean. You need to have a good camera if you have really planned to visit the place.
Once you land at the doorsteps of the jail you see the mighty jail in the middle of nowhere having all round surrounded by water. You cant even think of swimming in the cold water which might bring you in cold arrest. Freezing temperatures goes up to 5 degree centigrade.
Do select the audio assistance available at the jail of your language type.. (Off course you may not get all the 26 official languages from India but do select English) which is usually covered in the trip. The audio tour has lots of voices of the prisoners who used to stay in the jail and information about which path you need to take while taking a trip of the jail.
I won't describe the story about the run but its better you watch the escape at the movie and locate the jail areas where the prisoners had planned and ran away from the huge jail. The rest I will keep a surprise for you to explore the journey to Alcatraz jail.
Have a great trip and do write your comments below if this blog was helpful for you to generate the interest for rising the curiosity for escaping through the prison.
